OBITUARY (AMELIA):
The following found in Franklin Library Reference Cards:

Amelia O. Giering, Widow of Herman Giering died at her home, Main Street, Emlenton Saturday Jan. 13, 1934. Born, Emmaus, Lehigh County in Dec., 1847, the daughter of Frederick & Hanna Iobst, married Sep. 20, 1868

OBITUARY (FRED):The following obituary appeared in a Franklin (Pa) newspaper and was recorded on a reference card at the Franklin Library:

Feb. 20, 1920
Giering, Fred L. of Emlenton, died suddenly at his home there on Monday.
He had been ill with influenza. Mr Giering was born 47 years ago and was a son of Mr. & Mrs. Herman L. Giering, member of the Lutheran church.
Surviving: his Mother and two sisters: Miss Carrie Giering and Mrs. H. M. Lynn, all of Emlenton.

Note that "Monday" would have been Feb. 23, 1920; Mrs H. M. Lynn may be related to the A. M. Lynn who operated a store with her cousin, Lewis Howard.

COMMENTARY:
-- Parents of principal were first cousins, once removed (Mother would have been generation 14).
-- Amelia was a member of the Emlenton Presbyterian Church at the time of her death.
