DEATH NOTICE:
The following E-Mail notice of Gary's demise was received Sep 5, 1999.
I'm afraid that I have bad news. My dad had a massive heart attack yesterday morning (Sept. 3rd) and did not recover. He had gone golfing Thurday afternoon with my Uncle Chuck and then on to practice his dulcimer as he did every Thursday evening. Mom said he was extremely jolly when he got home. He woke Friday, ate and went to the garage about 8:30 am as usual. He visited with the guys about the day. A customer found him in his office with his head on the desk gasping for breath. They called 911 & attempted to help him with breathing. Our neighbor is an EMT and happened to pull in just then so they called her over right away and she also helped to work on him until the ambulance arrived. They rushed him to Meadville hospital. They pronounced him dead around 9:45 - 10:00 am. I believe he was probably gone before he left the garage. I don't think he suffered, at least I hope not. It was a terrible shock to all of us but I suppose it was the best way to be able to go. I only wish I could have hugged him one more time and told him how much I loved him. I can't believe that we won't see him again until we join him in heaven.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 with the funeral service on Monday at 11 am. I thought you would like to know.
...
Sincerly,
Sandy Giering Calvert
