She was married to Percival L. Giering in (Oct. 13) 1929 and was a homemaker, living in Michigan, Massachusetts and the New York City area; and then for many years on a farm in Averill Park, N.Y. (A few miles southeast of Troy)

Born (Oct. 16, 1907) in Lansingburgh, N.Y. (now part of Troy) she was the daughter of the late George W. Simmons, a Civil War veteran, and Katharine Lund Simmons, an immigrant from Denmark. As a child she lived in the old Lansing residence on 116th St., where her mother had an antique shop.
She was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and the State University of New York at Albany, from which she also received a masters degree. An avid bridge player, she was a member and senior life master of the American Contract Bridge League.
