The following appeared in the Lancaster New Era (newspaper) during the week of August 9, 2009.
Gary J. Giering Gary J. Giering, 77, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Emmaus, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles M. and Anna (Muth) Giering. Gary was the husband of Audrey (Hollingsworth) Giering with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage this past November. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Radio Corporation of America (RCA)/BURLE Industries as a Quality Control Manager before his retirement in 1993. Gary was a member of Manheim Sportsmen Club, East Pete Gun Club, and a past member of Conestoga Country.Club. and Media Heights Golf Club. Surviving in addition to his wife Audrey is a son, Christopher Giering husband of Syvian of Lancaster; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Hetrick wife of G. Blaine of Lancaster, and Robin Costa of Encinitas, Calif; 5 grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Giering of Springfield, Va. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz 17543 at 2 p.m. Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home after the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane League of Lancaster, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
