Giering Dead at 54 In Florida -------------------------------------------------- Melissa Archibald : Wednesday, March 15, 2000 Alfred L. Giering, 54, of Miami Shores, Fla., former Youngstown soft drinks manufacturing executive, died at noon Wednesday in St. Francis Hospital, Miami Shores. Mr. Giering was born in Youngstown, Feb. 12 1900, a son of Jacob and Rachel Barnickle Giering. He and his father operated the Giering Bottling Co. until 1940. He left Youngstown 12 years ago for Miami Shores and was a salesman for the Machine Manufacturing Co. of Miami. He was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church here, the Elks Club and Masonic Lodges. He leaves his wife, the former LaRue Ritchie: two daughters. Mrs. Phillip Kelly in Oklahoma and Mrs. Hayes B. Wood of Miami; two grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Holtzman of Youngstown, Mrs. Gertrude Sharpe of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Miami. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Philbrick Funeral Home in Miami Shores Published in Youngstown Vindicator 5/6/1954
