OBITUARY: The following is a quote from the reference card - it is headed as VCP (believe is Venango Citizen Press), Mar 16, 1927 P5 C4:

Giering, Jacob 80 died at home in Emlenton Sun. Survived by widow & children Henry of Lima, Oh; Edward, Raymond, Misses Ruth, Lois, Helen of Emlenton; Mrs Alexander, Venice, Ca.

NOTE: it is believed that the reference to "Mrs Alexander" is incorrect. It is most likely a reference to Alice who married one "L. Group", Groupe or Groupel.

COMMENTARY:
-- Jacob Emigrated in 1866, Naturalized in 1876.
-- 1880 Census locates Jacob and family in Crawford County, Pa, but also lists children born in Youngstown. Times for the Ohio location and occupation there is unknown.
Pleasentville Cemetery information: Lot nbr 66, A Section bought Jun 15, 1917.
-- The following information is puzzling at best. There is only one NETTIE Giering found (as of November 5, 2005). She is the child of the furst marriage of Jacob Giering (with Catherine Myers). The census information indicates she would have been born about 1875, which places her DOB in the proper place - siblings Lena in 1873 and Henry in 1874. The only CHARLES in that line is her Father's Brother and his probable DOB is not likely a match. So who is her husband??? Note also that Wayne is listed as age 14 but Charles just been married only 6 years.
