Edward K. Giering
Clarion Area Businessman
CLARION -- Edward K. Giering, 89, of S. 154 S. Third Avenue, Clarion, died Tuesday evening, September 22, 1992, in his home.
Born Sept 14, 1903, in Pleasantville, he was a son of the late Jacob Giering and Gertrude Kibler Giering.
Mr. Giering was married to the former Rachael K. Jordan on Aug 25, 1936. She survives.
He worked for Quaker State in Emlenton until 1941 when he came to Clarion and opened the Park Dinner [sic] which he operated from 1941-1952. He managed the Corner Restaurant from 1952-1962. Then he bought and operated the McNutt Market on Fifth Avenue and Wood Street until his retirement.
Mr Giering was a past member of the Clarion Lions Club and a member of the Methodist Church in Clarion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Layne E. Giering of Summet Drive Shippenville and two grandchildren Scott E. Giering of Danville and Brandi J. Giering of Shippenville; and one sister, Helen Schick of Emlenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thrusday, September 24, in the Globe Funeral Home in Clarion. The Rev. Stephen Ray, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion will officiate.
Interment will be in Clarion Cemetery.
