GIERING. -- In Wilkes-Barre, wife of Isaac Giering.Allentown Morning CallFuneral will take place at Emaus, on Sunday morning at ten o'clock, which friends and relatives are invited to attend, without further notice. Burial at Moravian Cemetery
ISAAC GIERING Isaac Giering, a well-known resident of Emaus, died Friday night after a lingering illness from consumption, aged 42 years. He is survived by three children, his wife having died a number of years ago. He was a painter by trade, but for several years was a bookkeeper in a Wilkes-Barre establishment. He was a son of late Sylvester Giering, who was Postmaster at Emaus for many years.
COMMENTARY:
Issac confirmaed into Emmaus Moravian Church - March 21, 1869
Some reports have Anna's place of death as Emmaus while other list Wilkes-barre, Pa.
The following comentery was donated by Nancy Moyer:
Isaac Thomas Giering was born in Emaus in 1853 and he married Anna Rebecca Koch in 1878. Their first child was born in 1878 in Emaus. Isaac was originally a painter, but by 1880 Isaac and his family were living in Wilkes-Barre where he was working as a bookkeeper. Their second and third children were born in Wilkes-Barre and his wife, Anna Rebecca died 8 days after giving birth to their third child. (Presumably from complications from child-birth). Isaac died 12 years later from consumption (tuberculosis). The three girls were then raised by Isaac's mother, Caroline Elizabeth (Stahl) Giering, and his sister, Anna E. Giering, in Emaus. By the time of the 1900 census, Daisy had married Edgar W. Giering and both May Giering and Annie Rebecca Giering were working as weavers in the silk mill. May married Clarence M. Wieand and move back to Wilkes-Barre and Annie Rebecca Giering married Walter Henry Stahle and stayed in Emmaus
