Irene, Mary and Dorothy are listed as Granddaughters. -- At Franklin Library: the City directory for 1920/21; The alphabetic listing shows Iona at 7 Rocky Grove Ave. The street list shows the house at that address as David W. Dillie (Iona's maiden name - from other sources) with a population of 10. |
COMMENTARY:
William Giering was the second husband of Belle Pitcher. She had a daughter, Dorothea, by her first husband: Mont Kirkpatrick. William adopted Dorothea and, as a result of that, plus the fact that she married her Father's cousin, Norman, she took the Giering name.
Conflicting DOB for Iona: The County Poor house (where she died) listed her
as being 36 when admitted on Jul 8, 1926 yielding a DOB of 1890. The cemetery lists her DOB as 1884.
